Gents,
I received an 24X for Christmas. (quite a surprise!!)
Are there any tricks or treats I need to be aware of?
Thank you in advance for your time.

There are some remote shortcomings to be aware of.

Bill, X24 shortcomings… Lots of them.

1. It doesn’t call in coyotes 100% of the time regardless of what you’ve heard.
2. It doesn’t cover your scent or mask noise you make on approach.
3. It doesn’t drag the coyotes out for you.
4. It doesn’t help you explain to your wife why you think it’s normal to stay out all night trying to lure in things with teeth close to you.
5. It never gets it done from your couch.
6. When used from the couch it generally ends in an argument, smack in the head or divorce.

Other than these few things you should do well with your new X24. Good luck!

You should have a good experience with your new caller Bill. If you're new to the remote I would suggest you mess around with it quite a bit before heading afield to familiarize yourself with it. It becomes second nature with use. It isn't the best button layout for gloved hands, but I chop the thumbs and index finger tips off all my gloves used for calling and shooting. Learn the up/down/left/right buttons, the back button, the mute and recall buttons and you're 90% there.

I set the User button to control the display selections and use the red at night and the daytime for, well... Daytime calling. :) I set my display settings at the dimmest and to time out the fastest and go dark. The brightness of the remote is really my biggest issue with Foxpro callers. Too bright in my opinion.

I use reflective material on my callers and remotes. If you have ever ran your caller batteries down and had to locate your caller in stubble or grass at night you'll appreciate this tip! Reflective paracord makes nice tethers with a little extra locating ability should you somehow drop things.

If you use the Foxbang feature I would suggest getting used to turning it on and off at the beginning and end of each stand. It has a way of activating when you least expect it otherwise! At least in my opinion.

I can't wait to see and hear about your successes! Get after them!

I’ve had the same x24 for alittle over a year now. I also run year round and it gets used ALOT! Today I had my first issue with it. In the middle of a set it got staticy then went low volume. Ever since no matter what I turn it up to, including 40, it sounds like it’s between 10-12. Every now and then it’ll get normal volume then go right back to the low volume. Anyone ever had this problem. Had a buddy say it was the internal AMP. Anyone else had this issue before?

J.Mixon. Anytime you run any caller heavily at high volume, electronics eventually give up. I got 2 good years out of my X24 and then had to send it in for a rebuild. The good thing is it is all fixable and they will get it handled for you. There isn't a model that I have run that the amp and speakers don't eventually give out, but I use them year around hard and typically at max or near max volumes.

With Ico you need to do that stuff on the comp. but it is simple and is on an sd card. After everything is as you want it on the card, you install it in the caller then sync the remote (takes about 10sec) with the included cable and you are done

Mine did the same thing. I had to send it in.
