Worth buying cheap ecaller?

Wanting to get into predator hunting but don’t want to spend a bunch of money on a ecaller. Would buying something cheap like the Mantis 50 for $40 be worth it or should I just buy a hand call? I realize I won’t be getting as good quality or as many features as an expensive caller but will it be able to call anything in or is it a waste of money?

I still use hand calls and they work just fine, however I also run a Lucky Duck Super Revolt. I have had the best luck running both. Some days hand calls work great and some days the e caller works. As for the cheaper e call, I've always been in the buy once cry once group. Can't say anything about the mantis I've never ran one or have heard it before.

Yes it would be worthwhile buying a inexpensive e-caller with a remote. I have expensive callers and have been using a JS.Grim Reaper and a FP Patriot just for the compactness. They call predators just fine.

My thought is just starting out on a limited budget, get your feet wet and see if your going to like it. After you've got some time under your belt you can see if there are feature you want that aren't on your current caller.

I'd still opt for one of the lesser priced yet still quality units from one of the more reputable companies. No it won't be 40-50 bucks but they aren't 300-500 either and will probably last longer and likely to have fewer problems.

Learning how to hand call is definitely fun and rewarding. If you want quicker success however, maybe consider finding a used wildfire or patriot for sale cheap.
