i have the opportunity to trade a .223 SS Hawkeye for a Winchester 70 coyote Lite 22-250

I have no experience with this rifle at all.

Can anybody chime in on the 70 coyote lite???

Thanks!

Nope but I do hear good things about Winchester rifles these days. Since the .22-.250 burns out barrels fast I would check the throat before trading.

Imo the new Winchesters are a very good production rifle, handle well in my hands and more accurate than I can shoot.

I have a Model 70 coyote lite and a Coyote Outback both in 243 and can i say they are a very smooth handling rifle i would have no problem buying another one

I used to own a coyote light in 22-250. The 14 twist barrel was very picky about what it would shoot. 52 grain bullets and heavier were out of the question. 50's were OK, and 45 and down were perfect. I shot Winchester white box ammo, and 40 grain Nosler ballistic tip hand loads. The action was smooth as silk, and someday I will own another one. I sold it to fund an Olympic Arms UMAR, and sometimes wonder if I made a wise decision.

I have an older model 70 Heavy varmint in 22-250. The thing shoots amazing if you can find one of the older heavy varmint buy it

I got one and love it. Re-bed the rifle and it shoots 50gn blitzkings under half inch. Still tinkering on seating depth to get even tighter. Totally recommend picking one up.

I had a Winchester Model 70 in 243 wssm. It was the worst grouping gun I ever owned. I will never own a Winchester rifle again. That gun cost me a double coyote call in on a set. Take a look at Tikkas. I have 2 of them they shoot amazing right out of the box.

Well I had a beautiful Mod 70 Featherweight in 270 that wouldn't hold a 2" group. BUT that is not the same as today's rifles. I would love to try a new Winchester if I was looking for a new bolt rifle. Haven't heard anything bad about the new ones.

Worked with a buddies that was the exact same way. Would shoot 50's just kind of ok but with 40gr Ballistic Tips and Benchmark, it would shoot lights out. I think these things would certainly benefit from a decent bedding job, too.

I've never owned a model 70 that wouldn't shoot. I'd take a coyote lite in a minute. I have owned rifles that didn't shoot well till they were bedded but they rewarded me afterwards.

Anymore I only buy Remington or Winchester.
