The coyotes in my area have gone quiet .Wonder why . For about three weeks havent heard a squeak . Man owns land below where i had been hearing them called me about working on a bulldozer. Sirens have been down roads in front and back of this property. Asked him about coyote activity in area and he told me that he has numerous pictures on his deer camera eating deer corn at his hunting stand .There is an abandoned golf course north of his property { thats where i have been hearing them}. The east has a row of houses down about halfway of his land .To the west is about a hundred yards of stumped cutover and then a solar panel field . Then our property. His property is several hundred yards north to south . looks like i got bulldozer to work on . looks like good place , just have to figure out how to get them below houses and panel field . Still dont understand why they have gone quiet . Know knowledge coming my way . Thanks u folks . Have a good night !!!

Coyotes around me went quiet in late October. Part or my guess is the increased presence or deer hunters in the woods. I would also say the increase in gut piles has made them less likely to come to prey distress calls. Do you know if there are hunters in the area you are calling?

Only one that i know of that hunts regular ,but he never hunts close to here . Could the coming of mating season have anything to do with it ?[male might not want boys know where his gals are] . thanks for your input !!!!

It has been an unusually quiet year around me. For both normal howling or triggering them to respond. My field time for coyotes always suffers in November and December unfortunately with only a few random sets here and there. Historically, those months seem quiet anyway, which I attribute to the deer seasons being in full swing, as Lazer32 has mentioned. I’m not out there much as stated, but I have a pretty solid intel base with landowners and folks that alert me when they hear them opening up. The flow of info has been more of a slow drip this year, and I can’t tell you why?

Hunt, same here, but what’s weird is our gray fox population seems to have exploded. I’m seeing them hit on the roads and in areas they normally don’t have a presence.

I wish I could answer your question but i think only the coyotes can. As 0168 said, it has been a 'weird' year for howling by my experience and all the landowners/farmers that keep me informed.
