Where are you buying your Cans?

This might sound like a dumb question.
But the main reason for my question is there are not a lot of places around me that sell them. There are a few, but it is a limited few. And those few only carry a few brands at best. Which makes selection harder.
The other option I had thought of is to order through Silencer Central when I am ready.
From talking to them and what reading I can find. Everything can be done though Silencer Central including the finger prints etc., and when your form is approved they ship the can directly to you.

I was curious if any of you have done it this way through Silencer Central and what were your thoughts on the whole process from start to finish.

Will your local shop facilitate a transfer?

If so, Silencer Shop, E-Silencers, Hanson Brothers, and Capital Armory all offer a variety of suppressors.

ETA- you buy from one of the above vendors, they Form 3 the suppressor to your dealer. Form 3 takes a couple days.

I purchased three cans through SC a couple years ago, two Banish 22 cans and a Banish 30. They were very helpful and pleasant to deal with so no issues with them there but it seemed like once they got my money things progressed with them very slowly. Those three took a little over a year to get. Prior to that the longest wait I had was right around six months.

A few months ago I purchased a new can from Capitol Armory who I'd purchased cans from before. From the moment I clicked purchase till the UPS guy delivered it to my front door was just under 30 days and I actually cost myself an extra week because I was out of town the first week after I clicked purchase and couldn't get to a fingerprint place until I got back home or it would have been more like three weeks from purchase to delivery. This most recent one I bought I wanted to see just how fast the approval times really are if you go individual instead of using my Trust. I was shocked how fast it was and got my ATF approval in less than 24hrs. Other places may do a good job too but I can tell you first hand Capitol Armory flat has their system down pat. They walk you through every step of the process and their instructions are simple and very easy to follow as well as if you have any questions they are there to answer anything you need.

The new efile has certainly made things easier and faster so that certainly helps but there is no denying Capitol Armory has a process that is second to none and I would highly recommend purchasing from them and if you live in a state that allows for it, even though CA is in Tx, you can purchase from them and get it delivered right to your front door just like SC as well as a few others too.

I went through silencer central for my first two suppressors and I’ll never do business with them again. There’s nothing wrong with the suppressors but they failed to submit my paperwork in a timely manner (2 months after I submitted everything to them). They talked me into the paper form instead of waiting a week for the efile to go live. Said it would be faster approval.

When I got the ATF approval, it took them another month and a half to mail it out. They blamed usps for a few weeks on the letter not getting delivered to the Sherrif, even though it had been been confirmed delivered. Then the story changed to it wasn’t my states turn to get suppressors mailed out. They eventually stopped responding to my emails. Took 17 months total.

Theres tons of other guys negative experiences out there too.

Did my last purchase through scheels and that was smooth sailing.

Wow!! Guess I got lucky with SC. The first one took 7 months and at that time that was pretty fast compared to others I’d talked to.
Ordered another a year later and it took 3 months from day I ordered to my door.
They talked to me constantly throughout the process and even during the waiting period.
Think my next suppressor will be from Diligent Defense Co. We supposedly have a dealer in the next town over.

I've gotten a banish 30 and harvester evo from SC. Process was definitely easy. Recently order a ddc wolf hunter and road hunter from them. Again, super easy. I really have nothing negative to say about my experience with them.

Yeah my transactions with them were in 2021. Maybe they got some stuff worked out in that time but I was pretty sour about it.

Nothing against the suppressors though but the delayed paperwork and extended wait on shipping sucked. I should have just drove the 6 hours down there to pick em up in person.

I have 8 cans, and they were bought at various places. I just started using Silencer Shop so I could file electronically and got four approved within 30 days.
