When elk hunting is slow....Coyote!

Found this target of opportunity around the middle of the day while hunting.
He took off running and I set up, he finally stopped to give that quick turnaround look.
I guessed the distance and dropped him immediately.
301 yards with my 300 SAUM XP-100 with a 150 grain Cutting Edge bullet.
Holland’s ART reticle is easy to use when shooting quickly on demand. Shot placement couldn’t have been better.
Some days, it’s your day to look good, and this was one of those moments.
For on demand shooting-I’ll take it.

I've had many big hunts improved by turning them into opportunistic coyote hunts. No shaming here!

Nice shooting!

I can always find time for a coyote hunt when I am big game hunting.

I have taken a number of yotes this way...Targets Of Opportunity

From a Mule Deer hunt a couple years ago.
26 Nosler XP-100!
I had the rancher with me and one of his daughters. She decided she wanted to be with me in the picture.

26 nosler wow tell us more about your xp.

Trued XP-100 action, reworked trigger, 8T Bartlein, Holland Brake, McMillan stock, Norma Brass, RL33, 147 ELD-M's at 3045 fps.
At my current DA, with a 100 yard zero, it is 20.6 MOA to 1000 yards, 3.5 MOA for a 10 mph FV wind, with a impact velocity at 1K of 1957 feet per second.

A friend shooting it several years ago at WY-SHOT...1453 yards

That is a Schmidt & Bender 4-16....Yep, a rifle scope.
I use regular rifle scopes on the majority of my specialty pistols.

Holland Radial Baffle brake. It is the most effective brake that I have used.
It is my primary go to brake for my specialty pistols.
This is one of my 6.5-284 XP-100's with 141 Carteruchio's.
Again not much recoil.

Very impressive! Thanks for the information. It's funny my XP-100 7mm BR seems to have more recoil :) and my Savage Stalker 7-08 definitely has a lot more recoil. Both are original factory condition "no brake".

Well, when you have lighter weight handguns, and no brake, felt recoil is significantly more....But you already knew that:)

XP's don't show up around my area very often. The fact TC is getting up and running producing the Encore again may give more options for hunting. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
