What would you do?

I'll try to make a long story short......

On another site there is a bad deal thread going on. Seems a guy had a rifle for sale advertised in excellent condition for $1000 shipped. Seller sold it for $875 shipped. Buyer received it and said it wasn't as advertised and wanted to talk about it. Seller offered $50 refund and buyer turned it down so the seller refunded his payment of $875. Buyer received the money but now won't return the rifle unless the original seller pays for return shipping. Now buyer has the rifle and the money. The original seller doesn't want to pay for return shipping or it seems that way. Of course there are two sides to the story and both parties don't look to good.

Thoughts???

It's on the Campfire. They're both a couple of dicks. The seller misrepresented the rifles condition. The buyer is holding the rifle hostage for shipping and threatening to turn the rifle over to ATF. IMO the seller should cover return shipping because he never should have sent a rifle that is not in the condition he advertised it in. If you bought a box of bullets from Midway, and there were only 75 bullets in the box, would you cover the expense of shipping them back? I certainly wouldn't.

Seller should pay for return shipping, or drive to the guys house and get his gun back. They both seem like asshats to me so it wont end well either way, sorry just looking at it as an outsider who doesnt care one bit what happens to the gun

Agree, "IF" the rifles condition was misrepresented, the seller should pay for its return, why should the buyer have to pay to return something that is not "as advertised".

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Pay the shipping and be done with it.

Some are saying the seller is a good guy. Not he isn't, he's an azzhole. The buyer and seller aren't doing themselves any favors if they ever plan on doing business on there again.

I also think the seller knew the trigger guard was pitted and tried to cover it up, then said he hadn't noticed the pitting. I call bull crap on that. He was hoping the buyer would be OK with it.......but he wasn't.
