What is your sound strategy for each of the 4 seasons?

Would anyone care to share their sound selection strategy based on the time of year?

Mine is pretty basic. Here is what I do:

Fall / Winter - rabbit distress sounds.
Spring / Summer - coyote pup distress

What do you like to do? Do you emphasize certain sounds based on the season?

Is there a specific time of year you like to use bird, coyote vocals, or rodent sounds?

the sound of the rabbit all year round !
vocal coyote all year round!

i start the coyote sound
after 15 minutes the rabbit
after 15 minutes the puppy
finally coyote again
and nothing comes for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
I'm moving on!

I'm hunting a golden jackal, but it's all the same

I only hunt when the the pelts are prime fall, winter and early spring and use a variety of distress sounds. End of March last season I made four stands and killed three coyotes on prey sounds.

I do use.a variety of sounds, birds, rodent,.rabbits, javelina and others from a variety sources. I rotate through callers from FP, HS,.WT, Minaska and hand calls.

It seems to work for me everywhere having hunted a.fair number of western states usually 2 to 5 each year.

The one thing for me is to not ask a coyote to approach the caller across big open spaces, I try to give it the opportunity to stay in his comfort zones comfort zone until he feels he can commit without endangering himself. Most of the time I never see a coyote beyond 100th yards. It's fun to sit on small opening in the cover and watch one work his way around the edges until he is as close to the sound source as he can get and then rush out for the kill.

Jan 1 until spring is .22 cal coyote season for me and I’m only hunting them to learn/practice for black bears. I’ll be using some kind fox noise, then lightning Jack or mouse distress, then fox distress.

Spring bear if a coyote shows up to the call I’m legal to touch him with the 30:06, same with fall bear. Those sounds are intended for bears though. I’ll be using lightning Jack sometimes or my fake caribou tactic lol. Deer bleats occasionally and then go into baby pig distress for 55 minutes. (Caribou sounds like a pig snorts and the deer bleats remind me of it). Bear cub distress as well but I think that may scare the coyotes away

Simply hit all triggers all year around, do not complicate it. I save my rabbit sounds for winter and mainly use bird and rodent in the warmer months. Coyote vocals will bring them in all year around. Mix it up and cycle through a lot of sounds until you hit the pitch or cadence that triggers them.

DIGEST WHAT JEREMY SAID, then adhere to it as he is a master.
