My story of getting shot didnt go great so I dont have high hopes for my bigfoot story...... but here it goes.
Me and a couple buddies took a trip north to the iron range area where there are large pits to target shoot, 4x4 trails, camping and agate picking. One of our buddies had a cousin up there who was showing us around, we were camping at an abandoned camp site beside a lake, Lake Sissibakwet(Native word, i didnt double check spelling) we drove into the woods a ways on a trail just big enough for a truck and walked to the lake where there was a campsite and fire pit, a tiny local spot, I could see one cabin on the opposite side of the lake. We had found Chaga mushrooms on a birch tree at the campsite so we wanted to look for more on the last day.
We were walking up the shoreline, we said we should spread out to see more trees so I walked around 50 yards into the thick woods, those lazy guys still pretty much just walked the clear shoreline together chatting. After a couple hundred yards walking in the brush I wasnt the most excited with looking birch to birch so I stopped and just waited for some squirrels or birds to come by. Maybe 4 or 5 minutes later, as my buddies are wandering up the beach, opposite of them in the woods I hear, nearly felt thuds. Bassy thuds in the woods, not harsh or dramatic but maybe a second between each thud and it got close enough i started to hear leaves and plants rustle with each thud, moving left to right. It stopped somewhere in front of me, my only movement was bobbing and moving my head back and forth trying to get a clear line of sight through the thick brush but I saw nothing in the thick woods.
After maybe two minutes of silence I hear the foot steps change direction and walk straight away from me, parallel to my buddies walking up the shoreline. When the steps got too far away to hear I thought of sneaking up behind it. Bigfoot is not in my mind at all here, I knew what bigfoot was but it wasnt even something I thought about. I have camped and bivy bagged all over, years of hunting and camping without even a campfire, just tarp and bivy bag. We have been under a tarp swatting mosquitoes with a black bear licking the door handles on the truck 20 yards away. No problem. When the idea of sneaking up behind whatever this was came to my mind, my feet turned around and walked away. Im telling you, I was looking in that direction and walking the other while I was asking what the heck my feet were doing, ive never walked away from anything in the woods, i didnt even feel any type of fear at the time. My feet walked away and I back tracked around and jogged up the shorline to catch up with the other guys. That was that, it wasnt a big deal.
It wasnt until on the way home a car passed us and it had a bumper sticker "I SAW SASQUATCH in REMER, MN" we had just passed through Remer, it was 15 miles from where this happened. Turns out we were in Minnesota's sasquatch hotspot.
I started listening to some stories and podcasts, Ive got a mostly "I will believe it when I see it" I saw nothing but it was a heck of a strange moment and ive been in the woods a lot. Many of the stories online are about hikers getting paralleled in the woods, thats what happened to my buddies, they never heard it but I was separate and standing still for awhile. I will never say never.
This is one of my favorite videos, this guy does a good job.
