I got out on Valentine’s Eve for a couple sets. Straight west wind. Coyote came from the south.

First kill since switching to the 75gr Vmax.

Second spot was a dud. Called it a night knowing I had a few good spots for the next night’s wind. I had been getting texts from a land owner that lets me hunt. He keeps getting day pics of a coyote. I was headed out to his spot first with high hopes. SE wind on Valentine’s Day playing breeding sounds with a known coyote in the area, what could be than that!! So of course nothing came in :ROFLMAO:. I got blanked on my next set too, so I headed to one more spot I was excited to get back out to. Snow was coming soon and had to hurry.

It was kinda cool cause those birds you see in the video right after I shoot started chirping before I saw the coyote letting me know it was coming. I did have to move around the tripod and I think it saw me moving. Also, the set screw on my leveling head came loose and I had a heck of a time getting a good hold on my rifle with that head being loose. I hit it a bit low, but it never got up. Little female

First female of the year for me. Didn’t see any spotting on her. It started snowing pretty hard as I was recovering the coyote and I called it a night. Anyway, I’m pleased with the 75gr vmax so far. Feels good to get out of the 2 week slump I’ve been in.

Nicely done. Don't you love the anxious moments when they disappear behind a rise for a few minutes?

Have you tried the 80 eld vt? I want to try the 100 in the Grendel if I ever run out of 95 Vmax and 100 amax I have stashed away. Could be awhile. But if I ever shoot out the barrel in one of my 243's, or I find another DPMS g2 as a donor, I have a 6.5 creedmoor barrel I want to build. Those 100 eld vt at 3200 could be pretty strong medicine.

Which iray scope is that? Good image.

Good shooting wolverine. Glad to see you having some success. Would you say you have better luck when there's more snow on the ground?
No, not since I switched to all thermal a few years ago. I felt it was more necessary when running NV because it was way easier to see. The one downside to snow is when it gets a little warm during the day and then freezes at night it gets really crusty and makes hunting really tuff. At least for me it does.

It drives me nuts!! I always panic and fight between staying on the rifle or going back to the scanner.

I haven't. For me personally, if I start going in that direction I probably should've just stuck to the 6.5CM/95gr vmax. I hit that second yote pretty low at 175 being 1" high at 100. I'm sure the loose leveling head played a big part in that though.

Thanks. It's the IRay Ricco MK2 LRF. I used to really like my Bering Phenom 640 scanner until I got this scope....
