JP7mag and I went coyote calling on Tuesday and yesterday and got two coyotes on each day. Tuesday I killed 2 with my shotgun at about 25 yards and 15 yards and on Thursday JP7mag killed 2 with his 243 Win at about 200 yards and 100 yards away.
We never know if we are going to need a rifle or a shotgun, so on most stands we have a shotgun and a rifle.
On Tuesday on the first stand I saw movement in the shade of a Juniper to my hard left. So I turned to my left and shot the coyote going away at about 25 yards.

A few stands later on a very steep mountain, I was laying down on my back and the sun was very bright to my left. After calling for about 10 minutes I saw movement very close to my X-24 and saw a big male coyote looking at my X-24 about 15 yards away from me. When I sat up to shoot the coyote looked at me just a split second before I shot him.

This is JP7mag holding up the big male coyote. You can see how steep the slope of the mountain was in the above picture.
Yesterday JP7mag shot the below coyote at about 200 yards away.
On the same calling stand a bobcat walked by behind me that I never saw.

Later in the day JP7mag shot a coyote with his rifle in some hilly country about 100 yards away.

Hopefully when the weather gets colder and the wind quits swirling the coyote calling will get better.
