With the vast majority of land being private here in the East, I "feel" for the wildlife agencies trying to 'fix' population problems. Habitat and predator control are the 2 biggest factors and there is little they can do about them so they must try with season dates and bag limits.

With that being said, they could allow more hunting time of the predators in those states that have specified seasons and for less protection of the species that are known to be "nest raiders"-the pelts are worth nothing these days, so it is hard to call them "fur bearers". Don't know if people would hunt these critters any more or not but it could help.
