My partner and I do one or so tournaments a year. This shoot was a 24hr hunt we didn’t win but we came close. I was running my bear creek 243 and 58gr vmax. That turned out to be a very deadly combo. We ended the hunt with 25 coyotes and a few shoulda woulda coulda’s. My partner was running a 22creed and 62gr eld vt. Those 62’s cost us the hunt. We lost 3 coyotes that looked to be hit decent. We found one the next morning that was about 95yds from the poi and it was hit perfectly. First place got us by 2 coyotes they are a couple of the best coyote hunters I know. So it didn’t hurt to bad to lose to them.

Son of a gun! 25 coyotes in 24 hours and you got 2nd place? That's insane. Good job guys. You shot more in 24 hours than I ever have or maybe ever will. Not to say I'm good or that's achieving anything by out doing this guy.LOL I don't mean it like that. But it's still impressive.

What do you think it is about the 62 grain ELD-VT's that causes them not to work correctly?
I’m not sure he used the 80’s out of his 6arc and they were worthless I started thinking maybe they weren’t moving fast enough out of that rifle. He used the 62’s on a small sample before we hunted this shoot and for the most part they were all bang flops. He had them moving much faster just over 3700 so I figured heck it looks like you just need to get them moving faster but that wasn’t the case. The one we found was hit almost perfectly. I thought he just hit them bad but that one was not. I was running 58 gr vmaxes and never lost a coyote. I had one I hit bad but broke his spine.

Thanks for the replies. I'm building a 22 ARC upper and the 62 grain ELD-VT's were on my short list. Gonna look somewhere else.
I would run the 73 or 75s. I run the 73’s out of my 22nosler at 3045fps and they have worked really good. The bc on the 75’s is quite a bit more than the 73 I’d run them but they won’t work in my magazines.

Kind of hard to beat a tried-and-true bullet like a heavy Vmax or a Btip.

If you don't want bullets to come apart, a Barnes TSX or TTSX is as good as it gets. Minimal pelt damage with those as well, but they will exit a coyote.
