Drove onto a picked bean field heading for a patch of standing corn to hide next to.
I stayed on the high side of the field and made it to a waterway to park the truck.
I got out, & scanned the pasture & lower waterway below me that I had just skirted....WTH, here comes a coyote!!
I opened the door, grabbed the gun, fired up the Iray, and he stopped at the grass edge, I shot...dead dog...cool.
Never took the time to hit record, but did snap a pic. Not surprising, it was a young male.
Pretty confident that I hadn't messed up the area, I made my way to the edge of the corn, laid my stuff down, & ran the Foxpro out a ways.
Came back to my stuff, stumbled into my pack, stepped on it, heard a crunch, then bumped my gun, laying on the ground, off the bipod.
I discovered after the stand the crunch was due to stepping on my Sceery howler I've owned for years....dammit.
Fired up the caller, & about 10 minutes later I spotted a coyote way out there farting around.
I threw several different calls at him to get him to commit, but he seemed to be ignoring the sounds.
He finally started angling towards me, then went out of sight. Not sure if he was heading for the woods, or heading my way.
As he came around the corn, I started the video, finally took the shot, and away he goes. I threw a couple more to speed him, missing by a mile.
Checking the video the next day, I thought the hold was good, So good, in fact, I checked zero that afternoon. It was on.....
Musta gave him a shave instead.
