We’ve been dealing with nothing but nasty winds since the first of the year so been making it hard to get in some calling. We had a little better day today so I load up the dog and off to the mountains we went.
Started the day off by calling in a triple, they came in down wind and in the thick bitter brush. My dog was able to pick them out and get over there before they busted. After a little cat and mouse they finally caught my scent and busted off.
Next spot was a going to be quite the hike. Once got out there looked better than I could remember. About 14 minutes into calling, here comes this double fast. Jolene locked in, cut the distance to them. Then the game was on. The female was fist to engage. It was a game of cat and mouse for a few minutes as my dog try’s to split up this pair. They get out there couple hundred yards, I get my dog to bring them back to me putting that female within 50 yards. I dump her, Jolene’s starts ripping on her. While I throw on cries, that male isn’t sure what to do. Run or fight or get shot. I made the decision for him.
