started or finished bobcat and lion dogs?

I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a good lion and bobcat traning kennel or individual that would have some started or finished dogs? I was also hoping that someone on this pm would give me a idea of what a finished dog and a started dog would cost me.

I live in western colorado and would hunt in fresh snow mainly for bobcat but some mt. lion. I Would think two dogs would be enough for what I would do, But what do you experts say? Could I get by only using one dog on bobcat?

Thanks for helping a third level newbie out all advice is a great help.

Have a great Christmas, Gabe
P.S. What breed of dog or cross breed is most common for bobcat and lion hunting?

Bobcat dog can run you anywhere from $300 for a pup to $10,000 +. Just keep in mind not every hound is going to make you a bobcat dog. When you talk bobcat, you are talking the toughest game to catch in the hound world so a good bobcat dog will fetch top, top dollar and most guys are not willing to part with them and if they are I would beware, take the dog on trial and see if it is what they claim.
The perfect number of dogs to run bobcat is 2, any more and you get too many dogs messing up the track and any less and you don't have enough to hold them in the tree.
You can give me a call and I can steer you in some direction of some guys that might have a started dog. Devin 801-910-1501
keep in mind you are asking for the hardest to find hound alive

If you can find a good cat dog for sale, only buy it under the tree. This is the only way to be sure your getting what you pay for. Alot of great dogs will never catch a cat!

I would still like to believe there a few honest houndsmen in the world and there are some I know that I would trust to buy a hound from. But there are many more crooked ones that honest ones that is for sure.
I just had 5 hounds stole from me by twoo guys in New Mexico last month.

I agree there are plenty of honest dog men out there. I also know that if coloradoultramag is pretty green in this sport the safe bet is to buy under the tree. He would also learn how to handle the dog he hunts. My opinion is if you haven't handled many hounds your best bet would be a started dog for cats.

Thanks for the advice guys. I agree that the only way to buy is under the tree and then you learn how to handle the dog. I do have a local that will take me out to see if his dogs are worth what he is asking. Boy we sure are getting the snow to go cut tracks in!
Devin69 I will call you today or tommorow.

Thanks again Gabe

P.S. Does anybody have any slick tricks to get a bobcat out of a hole in the ground? TNT strapped to a rabbit with a long fuse. kidding aside any tips or thoughts?

Hey Gabe, I know of a heck of a nice good cat dog, both the stub and long tail. He's a 8 year old leopard cur and I mean a nice dog and the only reason he's for sale is medical reasons. If your interested in him let me know and I can out ya in contact with the owner.

adnahoundsman: I will buy you your own shovel if you will do the dirty work! I'll even throw in a pick axe for the rock country! I'll let you pull the trigger. HA HA

Pm sent to lepcur.

Thanks again, Gabe

I'll just say that lions are easy, and bobcats (at least this year) a drivin me to drink. The rock piles I have put shortails in, The "TNT tied to a rabbits sounds better every day".I would advise to start out buy the best dog you can afford ,but buy at the tree.
