Sometimes you just can't walk away.........

....from a dang good deal. (At least I think it was) In Bass Pro yesterday looking for scopes and just killing time. I looked at rifles in the used rack and there was this Savage Mod II, in 308W. The rifle is a heavy barrel (20") setting in an H-S Precision stock. It got a Hawke Frontier 5-25x56 FFP scope in Seekin's rings. And the rifle is slick. Really nice shape. I went home and started looking up the parts. If I looked at the right scope, MSRP was $1269. and the Seekin's rings were $150. The H-S stock was $500. That's not including the cost of the barreled action. I bought it today for $800.00 out the door. Lucky for me, my tax return was in my back pocket. Key words there....was.

Dang you buy a lot a guns :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I do but I sell some too. I like to buy one and shoot it till I get bored with it then sell or trade for something different. Some I keep and some get traded. Some I buy hoping to flip and make a buck but that doesn't happen to often. Some I buy for the scopes that are on them or even a stock I can use. Some, like the Savage, was just to good a deal to pass up on. (I really like 308's) Just an old man and my hobby. Keeps me from chasing whores and out of bars. I look at it kind like investing my money where I have control of it. My other investments sure aren't making me anything.

Shot the Savage today. Just had 20 rounds of thrown together ammo. Varget and 168 Hornady Match. It didn't one hole but shot very respectable groups all around 3/4" at 100yds. I think with a little load work it will do better. Kicks like a mule and with the 20" barrel its pretty loud to.

Congrats William on being the first......... to find a good deal at Bass Pro
Actually there is another rifle I've been looking at for some time. Its a CZ Kevlar Varmint in 223. If I wasn't 223 poor I'd probably try to get it. It's not mint but it isn't in terrible shape either. I noticed a small chunk out of the stock on the fore-end but it would be an easy fix. They're asking $999. for it but they will come down on the price I'm sure. Vets get 5% off firearms. But its just one that really hasn't peaked my interest enough to do anything. I sure wish someone would buy it so I don't have to look at it when I go out there.
