Sharps

25-45 I had didnt shoot worth a crap. As a matter of fact I have a 25dti that is worse.
I do have a 25dti that shoots though.
That big bore shines in the short barrels.

I've been shooting a 25-204 for 20 years and has proven to be quite effective on coyote to big deer. Almost too much if your trying to save fur.

I keep threatening to move up to a 20" barrel length for more speed. But on the short 16" Barrel. I getting 2880 fps with the 70 Blitzkings, 'like always' Those Sierra's are accurate, and good consistent groupings at 100 yrd,
It is such a great Round for around my area of hunting dogs. Not dog overkill on powder burn ( 28.5 grn. ) . Suppresses nice. I never thought I still be married to 25x45 for the last 8 years .

Whenever I was looking for a "replacement" for the 223 I would have probably went with a Sharps, but didn't know anything about them. I wanted something that had a little more knock down and larger hole than the 223. Another limiting factor is that no one really makes a bolt action for them.

I just built a bolt on the new bca AR bolt action receiver. I'm going to do a video on it.

You think their be much a difference.. If Any ?, from the AR boltaction receiver with R-hand lift and rack. To having their AR side-charger upper, with just using Zero Gas. then just do a straight pull rack-back to rechamber ?
. If you do a side-charger with Gas-off .Then you always have the option down the road to turn Semiauto .

Back to the 25x45 .. I pretty happy with this last barrel I got from sharps. I got more than 500 rounds threw it, and one of the biggest thing for me. The thing is 'Tight' on the 1st round, dirty cold bore shot, same POI, 'every time' I pull the trigger off the bench to check the 100 yrd. zero .

I think the side will work if you leave the buffer spring and buffer in it. Other wise you'll have to push it forward on the small handle. I can see rds getting stuck too since your not physically turning the bolt and there will not be any momentum for the cam pin. Especially dirty or hot rds. 25-45 is a winner. This last trip it really shined over the others we were using. It's a lot of whomp in a small package with negligible recoil.

I put a 25-45 AR together a few years ago and had a lot of fun with it on coyotes. Hits them pretty hard vs a 223 for sure! I quit using it after some accuracy issues. I tried working with the rifle but no luck and picked up the bolt guns and haven’t looked back. I use 87 grain soft points and an 18” barrel for an average of 2785 fps. Was a good round and dropped a few right at 300.

Im currently waiting for a bolt rifle build to be finished up. Im going with a Mac Bros Element action and a 10T Shilen #5 cut at 24”. An honest 2900 fps with the 87-90 grain bullets would be cool and 2950 fps would be downright awesome. It would carry more energy at distance than the 22-250 at that point.

I have some 700’s restocked and converted over to aics and they run flawlessly with Accurate Mag 5 rounders and the Pmag 10 round magazines. Im doing the same to the 25-45 build and if it feeds like the 223’s do we’ll have a winner!

That's the Big plus with you doing the Boltaction, running the AICS bottom metal. You going to be able to stretch-out those 87's little more COAL and make little extra Case room . Probably open up different powder kernel size options, from tiny ball powders restriction to the small .223 case, to little larger kernel .
