I hear a lot about Savage rifles being accurate, but not reliable.
Savage responded with the introduction of the Impulse Predator rifle.
Large extractor
Fixed ejector.
Uses AICS magazines for round feeding reliability.
Straight pull ambi bolt that you don't need to worry about bolt/scope clearance.
While it isn't a balanced rifle in factory form, you can add a CF barrel to cut a couple of pounds and make it a well balanced/ lighter varmint rifle.
QC barrel system makes it an awesome switch barrel rifle platform that retains zero.
Slick feeding, positive extraction and ejection.

I guess I still need to tweak mine—it jams if you run it too fast. My question is, why don’t manufacturers make them function reliably straight out of the box? You shouldn’t have to tweak something new just to get it to work properly.

I have four or five Savage DBMs, and none of them reliably pick up the next round every time. I was a big Savage fan for years, but their quality control seems to have slipped in the last few years. The last two rifles I bought had to be sent back due to bolt issues.

My Impulse had a major problem where the trigger would lock up after cycling a new round. More than once, I lined up a shot on a coyote only to find the trigger completely locked. I sent it back and mentioned the cycling issues—they fixed the bolt, but it still jams.

My 110, on the other hand, is running great now, but only because I swapped in an aftermarket DBM from Snider Mags.

I have it in 22-250. I have found a sweet spot where it will function 90% of the time if i do not work it to fast, with force. I have not used it in a few months since I got my 110 barreled. My personal experience is the 110's longer barrel has less bullet drop past 300 yards.

Are you using 10 round mags?
IME, the 22-250 doesn't feed well past like 4 or 5 rounds in most magazines due to the body taper. Re-barrel that sucker to 22 Creed and start loving it.
Or, MDT seems to have figured out how to do a proper 10 round mag for the 22-250. See https://mdttac.com/22-250-mdt-metal-aics-magazine-10-rnd/ My brother has a few and says they are legit.

I've found that the 5 round AICS magazines work the best and are quieter than the 10rd magazines.
As great as they are, AICS magazines need to be adjusted for proper feeding.
The rifle in the video is a custom 20-250 and it took me five minutes to get two mags adjusted for reliable feeding.
This is the tool I use to adjust them. Mag Adj Tool
Once you get it set you won't have feeding issues and that 110 will be collecting dust.
Savage factory magazines suck and I only bought the Predator model because it uses AICS magazines.
The two CF barrels I have on my Predators are from X Caliber(243) and Preferred(20-250).
Both shoot lights out and are worth the wait.

I see a couple of lefties like me! I've been a fan of Savage for years (The right model of course) I've been more than happy with my Model 12 FLVSS 223. It was a tack driver out of the box and with some minor tweaks/bullet loads it's an awesome gun!

I'll have you know that there is no such thing as left handed.

I have three older Sav VLP's with blind mags. Two were on closeout sale when Savage "improved" the model with detachable mags.
None of the problems I've seen on forums since have occurred with these rifles. Ejection is great and they were all MOA accurate
right out of the box with reloads AND they have no cartridge length restriction due to a short mags. I'm not one to preach of the
quality "back in the good old days", but for me, these older rifles need never have been "improved". I would not trade one straight
up with this new "improved" stuff. (Rant over.)
 
Been going on three years with a lot of field time and rounds down the tube with my Impulse predators and no complaints except for the fact that the model has only one aftermarket stock manufacturer available.
I've seen them go on sale for really good prices, but I already own two of them.
