Hunted a rugged spot Sunday night. Pretty tight field with a thin strip of woods that forms an inside corner of 2 creeks that converge. Where they converge there’s about an 8’ waterfall. Really cool spot that I need a southeast wind to hunt. I used Cal Taylor’s vocals to get a response from Some coyotes across the east/west flowing creek and uphill a few hundred yards. They fired off to “Where You At”. About 5 minutes later I picked up 3 coyotes appear about 200 yards southwest of my position. I gave them some whimper whine sounds for a few seconds but they didn’t seem to interested in that so I hit them with an MFK howl. Little B something or another. One let out a halfass howl but they headed the other way. I jumped into my MFK Thrasher sound as it has been a real productive call for me for 2 seasons and one came flying in. I woofed it to a stop at right around 100 yards and it stopped slightly quartering to me. I hit her just a hair back and the spins started. I tried a second shot when she lined out to the east. She made it down a 30’ embankment and across the creek. There was no way I was going to try to get down the ravines and across the creek in the dark so I planned on going back yesterday to look for her but rainy weather kept me home. I went after work today. Found her less than 75 yards from the shot. Little female.
She came down this ravine. Pic doesn’t do it justice. And there was more snow before yesterday’s rains!
