Rule of Thumb

I figure some of you have heard the above saying. One day I killed & weighed a 40 lb male coyote. As I looked at him laying in the bed of my truck. Some thoughts occurred to me. I pulled him out onto the tail gait. Then I put him in an anatomical (upright position). I had my reasons. I took various measurements of his body. He was approximately 36" from front of his chest to the farthest curve of his rump. From the top of his shoulder to the bottom of his front paw was approximately 24". His chest from the top of his back to the bottom of his chest was right at 9' in depth. I kept those measurements in my head. To use as a "Rule of thumb". For bullet drop & bullet wind drift. Prior to taking the shot at varying yardages & in varying wind speeds.
