Remington 700 Long Range

I let a buddy trade me out of my 270 a few years ago.
Started missing the caliber so I bought a 700 CDL over the internet and was not happy with the smaller diameter barrel. So I sold it after I found this 700 Long Range. Discovered that there were no Jewell triggers to be had that I like. Found that Trigger Tech offers one that adjusts to 1lb. that I am used to shooting.
Worked up some loads and headed to the range.
I think I found a combination it likes.
Best 5 shot group I have ever got from a factory rifle.

Very nice group. I have trigger techs in a couple of my 700s and think they’re great.

Is that a newer production post bankruptcy and buyout model or older?

i have been shooting Jewell triggers for years and have been a big fan but this Trigger Tech is as good and maybe a little better. I think it breaks a little cleaner than a Jewell.
I am not real sure but I think it is newer production. I have never heard of this particular rifle before and was always having to stay with a Sendero or VS SF to get the barrel diameter that I like.
Also it came factory with a 4lb Timney trigger which I have never seen before.

Nice! Definitely a new production version. Good to hear that kind of accuracy report for the new outfit. That Timney trigger is the new standard equipment trigger for all the new 700s, except the alpha 1 and police models, which have their own special triggers. That Timney version has to be much better than the previous X Mark. I also like the profile similar to the VSSF. Thanks for the update, makes me a little less hesitant to buy a new production Remington.

The Long Range model came out several years ago, and back then came with a Bell & Carlson M40 style stock.

The new ones are advertised with a H S Precision stock.

IIRC mine had the B&C on it. Still a nice rifle. A tad heavy but its a heavy barrel rifle.

A store in Tulsa has a muzzle loader that looks just like 220 Swifts rifle. Sweet but pricey for a muzzle stuffer.

Once I switched out the trigger on my 700 LR in 7mm rem mag I saw a night and day difference in how it shot as well. Went from 1.5-2.25 moa to under a 1/4. The triggers they come with are crap but the guns can shoot!

I didn’t even try with the factory trigger.
I have shot a light trigger so long I can’t use a factory one anymore.

I love my Trigger Tech trigger. I had one installed when I had my .308 Win built. The builder said that the Timney triggers were hard to get at the moment but offered the Trigger Tech instead. He said they were getting great results, so I said why not. It’s been great. I have no regrets.
