Question on JC Higgins Model 50 bolt removal (FN 98 action)

One of my friends recently inherited a JC Higgins Model 50 in 30-06 from his dad. He doesn't hunt or shoot that much, so I'm trying to talk him into selling it to me. It's in prime condition, but hasn't been shot in a while and I'd like to give it a thorough cleaning. Only problem is, I can't figure out how to get the darn bolt out. I'm no gunsmith, but I've never had this much trouble tryin to figure out something that should be pretty simple. It's built off of a commercial Fabrique Nationale Mauser 98 action, if that helps. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a modern FN Mauser action with the usual spring loaded bolt release on the left rear of the receiver. The trigger on some models needs to be pulled at the same time the bolt release lever is held away from the receiver at it's forward end. The bolt is at it's most rearward position when engaging the bolt release. Don't just let it fall out or you may ding your stock or break something.
