Question about how you play your sounds....

Specifically, if you have your call set up to play on repeat or single sound (for FoxPro calls)?

I've always had mine on repeat, but occasionally I have changed the sound at a bad time resulting in a chirp from the previous sound continuing (hope that makes sense) and can also happen when hitting Mute at a bad time in the sound. This seems to be more of an issue when playing vocals for me. I was considering running it on single sound to avoid this, but I feel like I will be constantly screwing around with the remote when playing distress sounds. Doesn't seem like there's a good alternative, so wonder how you guys run yours.

TIA

I almost always start off with a pray call. It's usually some rabbit call. I will run that for 10 minutes. If nothing, I will switch to a woodpecker, deer, or a louder rabbit call. I will run that for about 7 minutes. If nothing then, I will switch to some sort of vocal. Usually a pair howl or a sister pair howl. If nothing then I will try a long deep howl. If nothing then, I leave.

Whenever playing a distress call and I see/hear the coyotes coming in I hardly ever turn the call off. I want them to focus on where the sound is coming from and not start having to look for it.

I'm referencing the setting in the TX1000 remote that sets the call up to play one sound and then stop until I use the remote to play another sound or continuing to play the same sound until I change it with the remote. I can see pros/cons to both ways depending on whether playing distress sounds or vocals. Just was curious how others have theirs set up?

I wasn't looking for anyone's "go to" sequences or anything like that.

I guess to explain it a little better....some sounds have more of a delay at the end before starting again than others do. So for example, when playing a pair howl that's 1 minute long, sometimes if I try to play the full minute and the delay is very short at the end, it will sometimes start over before I pause it. Not a big deal on a distress sound because I will just switch to the next sound without muting/pausing.

On my X24/TX1000 remote I always turn the sound settings to single play when I turn on the caller and remote. It would be nice if it saved that setting or if it was a button that was a little quicker to get to in the field.

The main reason I like single play is for the coyote vocals. I know if I play a series of howls it will only be one series and then stop. I don't have to worry about pressing the mute button at the right time and potentially cutting off the sound mid-howl. And if I go to play a distress sound it actually helps me control how long I'm playing that sound, 1 series, 2 series, etc. I'm still a big fan of setting up custom sequence files where I can go in scripted, keep scanning, and spend less time looking down at the remote. If something comes in, or responds in a certain way while the sequence is playing I can always hit the mute button and play sounds individually for the specific situation. I also set my volume to 20 as a starting point when I first turn on my caller and remote in case I need to quickly mute a sequence and play a sound such as a howl. I also make use of my 4 preset sounds in many cases after muting a sequence.

I guess I didn't realize it didn't save the setting. Good to know. I think I set mine up with single the last time I had the remote on thinking I wanted to give it a try. I'll have to check and see if it went back to the default.

If I'm around bushy/tree creek bottoms or lake shore at sunset I start with a family rally vocalizations, from tracking I know the coyote tend to spread out a bit when they bed for the day in that type of cover(breeding season keeps coyote close together so the evening rally stops for a month or so). Yips, pup barks, female bark or howl with a male howl either at the start or end. Wait a few minutes and start a prey sound whether coyote sound off or not. I hear the group rally, when they get up to start hunting, so I try to imitate it.

You guys have never hit mute at a pause and had it incidentally make a noise after? I'm not saying this happens to me a lot, but it pisses me off when it does.
I’ve had it make a little noise from time to time but I don’t think it’s really negatively impacted that calling set. I guess, I have no real way to measure the success or lack of success from it making a bit of noise though.
