Prairie Dogs in AZ

I can't tell you if they do or not; however, I was reading the recent findings of the US Game and Fish Department and they were telling of the re-introduction of the Black Tail into AZ. I know what that means.

There should be plenty of them right in your area ????
Talk to some of the Ranchers and Farmers at your local Feed Store ?

There are a lot of them in Unit 10 not too far northwest of you, The AZ Game and Fish website has info about hunts for them on the Boquias (SP??) Ranch.

There's actually quite a few up in the high desert north of the Mogollon Rim country.

Once you get into the flats north of the cedar belt you should find some pretty easily. I used to shoot some up north of I-40 between Winslow and Holbrook. Just be careful to not wander onto the Navajo reservation.

As open as it is, I used to kill a lot of coyotes up there too...about 24 years ago. It's been a while, but I'd bet the p-dog towns and the coyotes are still there.

If you PM me I can give you slightly better directions for where I was.

We are one of the places the black footed ferret has been re-introduced and the prairie dog towns near them are off limits. All of the northern 1/2 of the state is loaded with them in the 4000-7000' elevations. In eastern arizona they are just coming back after near elimination by the plague 10 years ago. It's about the only thing that keeps them in check. We shot quite a few this year and had a blast. Sorry for the limited info, no honey holes will be given here but you can find your own easily by asking at the feed stores as mentioned above.
