Prairie Dog Hunting in New Mexico

My dad just moved to Arizona we are looking to find some places to hunt in New Mexico for prairie dogs. We shot a lot in MT prior to his move. Now we are looking for something a bit closer and heard that New Mexico had a few dogs around. Thanks for any ideas.
 
We have a few good p-dag towns here in Arizona, they are up north near sleigman. i am planning a trip up there in 2 weeks. we had alot of fun last time i was up there. if you need better directions let me know.

New Mexico has a gillion prairie dogs but a lot/most of them are on private property. You just got to get out in the country side and ask the farmers and ranchers.

There are also some on public land, but we tend to hold those close to the vest as they say.

If you're coming this way, then give me a buzz and maybe I can rig something up for you on some of the private places that I shoot. I still don't give out info to my best shooting buddies about the public spots I have found. If I did, they'd be gone in no time at all!
 
Tusero you are right on that. Two summers ago five of us found a great place in NW KS and shot continuously for a day and a half. One of the guys was bragging about it to one of his friends and the next year when we went back the dogs were so gunshy most of the shots were in the 200+ range after the first 2-3 shots. And this was on private land.
 
Thanks for the info guys. We had been hunting primarily in MT on a private ranch and had unlimited dogs to shoot at. I know how it is when you find a good location. We have no problem knockin on some doors for permision. I sure appreciate what you all have offered.

I'm passing though New Mexico on May 23rd and 24th. Would love to shoot some Prarie dogs. I take it you live out there? Chad
 
That member hasn't been here since 2006, so you're unlikely to get a response. Good luck with your search for prairie dogs.
