There was enough moonlight to where we could see them moving in the dark so they would probably be able to see us too, per the guide.Just curious why y’all stayed so far away on that first sounder? Most will get within 50yds or so and light them all up.
22” barrel, 8 twist, suppressed around 3,580-3,600 fps with 39.5 gr of Varget.Good job. How fast are you pushing them and what's the twist?
Thanks for the heads up. I’m at (3600 fps x 720) / 8 = 324,000 rpm and I think I’m loading for a fairly conservative speed. I haven’t experienced any issues yet in a Proof carbon barrel. The Hornady load data goes up to 3,850 fps for this bullet in a 24” 8 twist:The reason I'm asking is because I'm pushing a 65 V-Max to 3500 FPS out of 8 Twist in 243 and some make it to the target with others coming a part. So I was wondering how the AMP jacket was holding up since it's a little thicker.
I emailed Hornady and they said the .224 62 VLD-VT RPM should be around 300,000 (or under)before issues occur which is the second reason I haven't finished my 22 C build (have everything but barre)l. Anyway, I'll see if I can find their response.
Here's their response:
Kenny, depending on the actual depth of cut from the rifling of the barrel we generally do not want to exceed the 300,000 rpm. Thanks
