We found a fresh coyote track. Heading into a large timber track amongst some open rolling hills. We had 1 walker hound. That hound took off on that track. Out in the mile section. Was a hound hunter friend of ours. With his large lone greyhound. Minutes later he radioed to us. A large coyote broke out of the north side of the timber & was heading his way out on the rolling hills. He dumped his male greyhound on it. It turned out later. It was a 47 or 48 lb female. I don't recall the exact weight now days. But she weighed near 50 lbs. She looked like a very large male. Anyway that greyhound caught that coyote & they battled face to face. A minute or so later. That greyhound broke away. She was more than he could handle alone. That coyote headed east north east. She was met at the gravel road crossing by 4 male greyhounds. Only one of them seen her drop down into a creek bottom. So one of those greyhounds seen her & caught her on the creek bottom.

There they battled face to face. As they both stood up on their hind legs & battled. She whipped him also around 1 minute later. So he broke away. Up out of the creek bottom the coyote headed east bound in that section. That coyote was worn down by then. Due to running around 1 mile & fighting two good dogs. Minutes later here came that trail hound. Still on that coyotes track. He chased her another 1/2 mile & had her bayed against a barbed fence. I grabbed my shotgun & also gave chase on that coyote. The trail hound & the coyote battled against that barbed fence. Once he broke away. I shot her dead. She was the largest female coyote we ever got. I took her to a feed plant where I worked & weighed her.
