I sat down to have dinner last night and the phone rang. It was one of my ranchers saying the coyotes were getting too friendly and he needed me to come out one more time to put some fear in them.
Well when duty calls, what’s a guy to do but pack his things and go.
First stand I got set up on a small sage brush patch close to where the rancher feeds his cattle. I let out a couple howls on my mouth diaphragm and got no answers. About 30 seconds later I pick up movement out in front of me. It was a coyote starting to circle to my left and heading down wind. I let out a couple yelps on the diaphragm and got her stopped at 225 yards and put her down.
I hit her a little far back but the bullet got the job done.
Now I can officially call the season a wrap…….unless the phone rings again.
