We continue with last year's Hunter of the Month contests, this time with October 2024. Scroll on down for a list of October nominees and click on each link to review those stories from a few months ago. Give each its due (these great stories deserve another read!), then cast a vote for your favorite. The member whose post gets the most votes will get to choose between a tripod basket and e-caller remote holster. These are quality pieces made by our very own IndexFinger, a relative newcomer to our cadre of Custom Accessory Makers. Check out some of his stuff and be sure to contact him for your sewn nylon gear needs. After you have voted, reply to this thread for an opportunity to win one of the pictured knife/gear lanyards kindly donated by member Bob-Atl.

I'd like to suggest that the Hunter of the Month get moved to the main Forums page. Make it its own standalone topic under HUNTING and maybe it will gain more traction. If it becomes more prominent it may well gain more traffic. Only 17 votes were cast this last time.
Use the Hunter of the Month LOGO as the link. The easier it is for people to see and click on the more votes will be cast. IMO

Thank you for the input! Please clarify. Are you suggesting that HOM be a primary forum instead of a subforum to Predator Hunting?

You say "only" in relation to 17 votes, but that's about the average number of votes in all HOMs this year. In April we only had six. One intent of creating this subforum was to centralize all the HOM posts and related activity so they weren't scattered about in the Predator Hunting Forum.

Historically HOM posts appeared in the Predator Hunting Forum. Votes were the same. It's posted here and referenced in Predator Hunting, so it now appears in twice as many places. It's refreshed to ensure it shows on "What's New" regularly (but hopefully not obnoxiously so). Members should be seeing it.

Yes, HOM should be a primary forum. I say "only" because there are a heck of a lot more members than 17. I'm just suggesting to make it more visible so that more members can get involved. The harder it is to find something on a website the less it will be visited. Make it as easy as possible. Members should be seeing it, so either they don't care to vote or they don't see it. I'm hoping it's the latter and they simply aren't aware of it. Anyway, I'm not trying to be a nitpicker or anything, hopefully just adding some constructive thoughts.

DesertRam, here are two different screenshots. The first one is from my cell and the second one is from my desktop.
The screenshot from my cell phone doesn't show the HOM, but the desktop does.
I have a hunch that most of the traffic that PM receives is from cell phones. If this can be fixed so that the HOM shows up on all screens it may help with more people being involved.

Interesting. Since I rarely look at the forum view, I hadn't noticed the difference between the PC and cell phone, but now that you point it out I certainly see that. My cell phone link to PM goes right to "New Posts," so I only see the list of posts that have seen activity since my last visit. Let me ponder this...
