No coyotes last night but…

I got to watch a grey fox pair that showed up. Got about 3.5 minutes of video of them mousing within 50 yards of me. They’re fun to watch. The bigger male pounced the caller playing vole squeaks and obviously got scent. He ran off 20 yards, stared a bit then went back to mousing. I swear greys are half feline! Full canine wouldn’t stick around! Lol. Here’s a couple screenshots from the video.

Well, they can climb trees, lol. I was archery hunting over some persimmons and watched a Gray come in, he found a few on the deck, but I guess not enough. He proceeded to climb the tree and was picking ripe persimmons that hadn’t fallen yet. Craziest I’d seen as a young kid.

Sometimes the entertainment is more thrilling than a kill. Very cool
I get to watch fox pretty frequently. These two seemed especially active and entertaining.

I can think of two occasions where my attention was on a fox I wasn’t going to kill, when I should have been scanning for the coyotes that I would have killed! A single coyote, and a pair owe their lives to foxes that had my attention.
