When using a shotgun, I love using Hornady Coyote Magnum BB mainly and #4 buck. I live in Arizona and do not have experience hunting tight wooded areas unless I go further North. But still can provide some tips. When using hand calls you have to remember that coyotes will be honing in on your exact location since you are the source of the sound they are pursuing. As for scent cover, do not use it, play the wind everytime, you are not going to fool a coyote's nose. I would suggest watching videos from Tory Cook from MFK Game Calls on how to set up in your type of terrain. He hunts dense wooded areas and shotguns coyotes ALL the time. You can also visit his website mfkgamecalls.com and pick up some diaphram and hand calls. he has some that are designed for beginners.

Good luck and happy hunting.
