Multi purpose gun

Good morning everyone
When i first thought about this problem (MPG) Pennsylvania wasn’t allowing the use of semiautomatic rifles in hunting. So I was limited to bolt action rifles.
For which I didn’t have a problem with considering I was doing a lot of varmint hunting with my 223 and 22-250. Fast forward a few years and the 22 nosier came out and I was interested but the cost at that time for a rifle was outside my budget according to my accountant (the wife). Around this time give or take a year or two. Pennsylvania passed legislation allowing the use of semi automatic rifles in the use of small game and varmint hunting at this time the 224 Valkyrie came out and my interest was really peeked because of some of the things that the talking heads was saying about this new caliber. So my accountant gave me the ok to purchase an upper in this caliber because the cost was reasonable.
Fast forward to today I have been using this upper I purchased from savage arms with the 22in barrel with a 7twist For a couple of years now. This story doesn’t end here either since I reload for all the guns I use. I found out that this 224 Valkyrie with a 7twist shot everything I load for up to a 60 gr bullet every well and accurately. I worked with this upper for a little over year trying to get it to shoot heavier bullets along with still ground hog hunting but the spread I was getting not what I liked and was concerning because I was not going to field a round that would miss or would not make a ethical kill. I wanted this gun for use to hunt various animals with the correct bullet. After trying various different powders and bullets and seating depths. I still was getting the same results until I decided to get a 22in barrel from bison armory with a 6.5 twist and the game was changed. This upper shoots everything from 50gr to 88gr extremely consistently and probably better than I can. Now I have my MPG but I have a 11 grandson who is into hunting ground hogs and I have him using my 223 rifle.
At this time the 22 arc has come out claiming to shoot as flat as a 22-250 out past 300 yards from a 7twist barrel.
Since I’m now looking to buy another upper so I can let my grandson use for varmint hunting.
The 22 nosier uppers are still on the pricey side and I have no experience with.
The 224 Valkyrie I have plenty of experience with and with 6.5 twist barrel on it now it probably will reach out to 1300 yards like advertised but I haven’t done.
The 22 arc which hornady says it has the velocity of a 22-250 out past 300 yards. I’m interested but I’m getting the same thing from my 224 Valkyrie now and have a nice range of bullet weights I use for this.
Has anyone used the 22 arc and is it all that it’s advertised or is gonna really shine after you put a faster twist barrel on it.
Any information would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Robert

Personally I'd build another just like you have, just think of the money in brass and dies you'll save and you already have a handle on what to expect from it. Just a few posts from here there post about breaking ARC bolts. Second, a 22 ARC is never going to be faster than a 22-250 with same bullet.

Thank you AWS
I know the 22 arc isn’t going to as fast as the 22-250 with the same bullet. I have two savages in 22-250 one a 12 twist and the other a 9 twist. My 9 twist is going to get a thumb hole stock or something else put on it. Shooting it with a traditional stock is getting a little more difficult with my old hand and wrist. That’s why I really like my 224 Val. I was thinking in the same way as you and just get another 224 val upper because I do have everything else reloading wise.
I’m looking at a Wilson combat upper with a 6.5 twist that’s with in my price range but I haven’t had any experience with Wilson combats stuff. So I’m researching their products now.
Thanks
Robert
