Maine do it your self bear hunts

Hi
My name is George Ackley and I am trying to do a bear hunt on my own in main
I have been hunting them for more then 10 years with outfitters and would like to try it
On my own.
I don’t know much about Main but I drive up 95 and down rt. 9 to calis.
Is there any way to find out about hunting bear and working a bait that can help me start to plain this trip .

I am looking to
Find a place to hunt would like to hunt Washington county.
And if there are permits I need to gain access . were to I get them?
Hunting lic. I have under control.
Road access for truck also have quad.
And camping in the area?
Trying to do this for this years opener at the and of august.

George,you will need a permit for each bait site from Wagner Forest Management # 207-990-0050 the last I heard the bait sites were $75.00 ea , could be more now? You will need to show a Wagner Forester where each site will be located on a map; and you cannot put a bait within a certain distance of another baiter(not sure what that distance is).Thats if you're going to hunt on paper company land.Internatoinal Paper also owns alot of land on both sides of Route# 9,and they also charge bait site fees.I'm not sure what they charge though.I also don't have a #.Bringing your 4 wheeler is up to you but Wagner just put a stop to all 4 wheeler traffic except on a few designated trails.So you have to be careful where your going.Truck access should not be a problem though.Are you looking to rent a camp or bring a camper?There are plenty of camps and camping sites here in Washington county.
