Been busy at work and weathers been crap. But me and the pup have been still at it every chance we got.
Friday morning called in a double after 25 minutes of vocals. But they wouldn’t come out of thick of it. No matter what she did.
Turned around called another spot and had a triple come rushing in after just a few howls. Should the lead coyote under 10 yards. Couldn’t get the other two stick around.
Saturday I took my brother out and we hiked out to this little basin that tends to hold a few dogs. Soon as I put on rabbit distress at quarter volume, my dog takes off on this coyote cresting the hill. They run around in front of us for 10 minutes (plenty of shot opportunities but my brothers never watched my dog work) finally that coyote lays down and just watching. I secure the dog, turn the call on. Got him to stand back up. Put him down
Then yesterday it was stupid windy so all I was going to do is chores and relax. NOT.. the dog had other plans. So we went out to bare the wind.
We went and climbed up this hill that’s kinda out in the flats. Throw on some rabbit distress and max volume and just about the time I couldn’t take the dusting I was getting. This coyote pops up 15 yards in front of me. Quickly saw that my dog was out in the flats. Took the shot. Missed. That coyote took off and my dog cuts that coyote off and sends her back to where she came from and gets her stopped just over 200 yards out. Dumped her and while I’m sitting there in awe of what happened. I see a second coyote out there about 500. I throw on some fights and that coyote disappeared into the brush. I keep it going while my dog is out there chewing up the first coyote. He pops up 15 yards from her. Neither one knew each other were there. After waiting to see what happens. I tone my dog back. Soon as she hits the clearing that coyote is following her. That coyote followed behind her for 5 minutes eventually my dog turns the tables and is on that coyotes ass. After that last good chase. She come sits by my side and that coyote steps around this bush barking and growling. Giving me a great shot.
