You ever use the stomach contents as bait? Y’all may not do many dirt holes out there due to the hardness of the ground though.

Yes and no sometimes use the yellow bile in a females belly to chase the pups. It’s typically only good for 24hours. There wouldn’t be anything wrong with using the meat. I really don’t set dirt holes due to the amount of coons out here. A dirthole basically assures me of a coon catch. I call myself a coyote trapper but I’m pretty much a master trash panda trapper.

Yeah, I have to weed through coons/possums/cats sometimes to get to the coyotes. I don’t mind, get paid per critter, but nothing worse than have a camera on a set and a possum being caught and the coyote walks by checking out the possum.
I’ve always been curious who shows first when you get a coyote/cat double. Sets are all of 15-20ft apart opposite sides of the road and ride up on a double and I start laughing just thinking of who sat there and laughed at who and then get caught themselves.

I’ll be honest, and this is just based on camera pics, I don’t think it does down here.
That particular case I dispatched the possum, reset the exact trap and location and even put another set across the road from it and had a double on coyotes the next check. What was even crazier is there were three on camera when those 2 were caught. Pulled those sets and went 50yds up and down the road with flat sets and coyote gland on one and cat gland on the other. 2 nights later I had a coyote on the down side trap and next check had a cat on the set I went up the road. Of course that shouldn’t really count cause the cat had left his calling card and that’s why I put a set there, lol.

Man that is pretty work right there and hell yea it counts it’s 90% reading sign. You still got it to step on that 2” piece of real estate.

We have a high volume of cats. Probably more than coyotes.
When I first started trapping a bobcat was the first thing I caught and I thought I’m a GOD amongst men. I caught something very few down here ever see.
After 2 weeks and about a dozen cats later I realized I still suck and they’ll clog up a set as much as possums and coons do. Coyotes come in spurts where I can do know wrong. Then it’s like there’s not a coyote within 3 counties.
