Ki YI vs pup distress

They both work. In years past, and even occasionally now I would use a kiyi sound after a shot was fired if I had a pair or more come in. Thought was it’s an older coyote buddy they came in with. Pup distress was used as a finishing up a stand sound. I have learned it doesn’t typically matter much and I’ll use pup distress after a shot with excellent results in stopping or completely turning other coyotes around for another chance.

I prefer pup distress. I feel as though any coyote, male or female, are more likely to investigate the sound of a younger/smaller coyote in distress rather than an older/bigger coyote in distress due to a smaller coyote is easier to whoop and or kill . No scientific proof that it works better though. Just my thoughts on the matter, but I ain't no coyote.
