Friday night was unseasonably warm and beginning to fog as the warmer air flowed across the cold ground. Coyotes were moving in spite of the warmer weather and coming to the call. First stand produced a double. The male was the first to taste lead and the female, heavy in heat, didn't want to leave him so she died as well. The second stand brought out a young female which wanted to come but was lacking confidence. She was DRT as she turned to leave. Third stand produced a coyote which slipped into the downwind and avoided his eternal reward. Another male coyote came down the field road and took one in the eye. Four coyotes in three stands and the night ended early. With the bright moon all of these coyotes were seeing us, but couldn't quite be sure what we were. These coyotes were taken at about 150 yds. except for the first one which was about 120 yds. Three of the four were DRT and the first one was heart shot and went about 10 feet. Thanks for riding along with us.
