A fellow awhile back told me that the grey fox was actually a member of the cat family. I did not think this was quite right so I thought I would see what the experts say. Let me know. Thanks.
I am no expert on this subject, buthere is my best go at anwering the question. The grey fox is not a member of the cat family, but it is easy to see how folks could think otherwise. The grey fox is very "catlike" in some respects. Here is a link to a site that should help clear things up a bit. http://home.globalcrossing.net/~brendel/fox.html
gray fox are from the order carnivora. the family canidae. urocyon cinereoargentus. from MAMMAL TRACKS AND SIGN.in other words no. they are a dog. cats are from the family felidae but are in the same order, carnivora. i feel like a scientist with this book in hand!
