Anyone have a set of em laying around collecting dust? I'd do a deal with ya..

Load data would be greatly appreciated. I'm picking up a rifle with a 1-8 twist so I'm planning to send 70gr - 80s at fast.

I'm gonna cut it's 26" barrel at 22 I think to suppress and keep a couple inches for rechambering when the groups spread.

I'd appreciate your feedback and council. I wanna strike a balance between fast and good performance past 400 and hopefully learn it out to 800.

Thank you for your time yal,

Did you find dies? I just got a new chamber cut and my old dies are a little tight. I think it’s because my other chamber was either a bit oversized or a “win improved” not the Ackley improved.

For me 48grains of H1000 and a 75 eldm was a good fire form load and then 49.5 was good for 3540 out of a 27” 8 twist.

New barrel is a 26” 8 twist. Shot it up to 50.5 grains with 75 ELDM’s and got 3610. Decent groups, no pressure, but can’t really get anymore powder in the case. I’m at 5000’ and it was 0 degrees F today.

You will like this cartridge.

I’d be curious on which powders you try. H1000 is shooting great out to 450 as that’s as far as I can shoot at paper behind the house, but I have lots of velocity spread. Up to 60fps for 8 shots. It’s just dirty cold, so maybe that has something to do with it. I’m going to try H4831SC next.

REDDING 22-243 IMP 40^ FL SET 2-DIE CUSTOM, S/H #1 from Grafs.com. Ended up being $205 shipped.

I've not set em up just yet. Still trying to get the rifle how I want. The Boyds stock's grip is cut for a a guy with fingers about an inch longer than mine. Swapping that for a MGT field stock and getting some glass on its way.

H4831SC produced considerably less ES for (2) different 5 shot groups, less than 20fps. Groups are nice and tight at 140. Velocity is good at 3580 and 3605.

Sorry I'm so late in answering your question. The double base powders, like 560 and RL26, do have higher burning temperatures than the single base powders. But, like many things, that information is only worth something when it's put in the context of real world use. I saw an interview with a technical guy from Vihtavuori, who was discussing the technical aspects of single vs double base powder. He gave the flame temperature difference between the two powders. His conclusion was that the difference in temperatures was insignificant IF THE FIRING RATE OF THE AMMO WAS NOT RAPID, AND FOR EXTENDED STRINGS. He used the example of F-Class as a shooting discipline that you would not want to use the double base powder. When you look at predator hunting, with the relatively small number of rounds fired, low ambient temperatures during hunting season, it would be virtually impossible to detect the difference in barrel erosion. I have two .22 Creedmoor rifles. One I have shot mostly VV N-160 in, and the other has been fed RL-26 and N-560 exclusively. I can't tell the difference in bore erosion at the same round count with the bore scope. I just don't worry about it.
