Thanks to a law passed by Democrats in New Jersey, hospitals are requiring parents of newborn babies to declare not only what sex their baby “was assigned at birth,” but also whether the newborn is male, female, trans male to female, trans male to male, “genderqueer” or “other” (explain…yes, please), and whether it is straight, lesbian or gay, bisexual, “Questioning/unsure” or “Self-describes (please specify.)” Yes, please specify how your one-day old baby self-describes his/her/its sexuality.

3. In deep blue Oregon, a member of a state panel advising Oregon’s Health Authority on “best practices and policies in mental health” identifies as a turtle. J.D. Holt goes by “they/them” pronouns but identifies as a turtle and goes by “J.D. Terrapin” on Facebook. Holt/Terrapin is described as “turtlegender.” At least it’s nice to hear that “they” has come out of “their” shell and entered public life. We’d hate to see the people that Oregon rejected as unfit to advise the government on mental health.
