Hunter's Buddy vs Cabela's

I am considering purchasing an electronic call. Currently I'm considering either the Cabela's with remote or the Hunter's Buddy with remote. Does anyone have any experience with either? The Hunter's Buddy seems to be more weatherproof and compact than the Cabela's. Does one or the other perform any better? I'm new to electronic predator calling and would welcome any advice from the more experienced members of this forum.

I have a buddy I go calling with that has the hunters buddy.I am suprised I don't hear more about this caller myself. It's a nice unit. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Sound is really clear and loud with a nice small speaker too. With the remote its a little spendy but campared to the Cabela's I think you will be happier.I would of bought one after I sent my Cabela's one back but I got a FoxPro instead.I still use my Johnny Stewart too and in my own opinion some may look simular but Stewart callers are the best quality one in that style!Nuff said

Beargrease. i have johnnystewart machines they work great.i just got a johnny stewart powerpro.i have a cd player on it. i played it in some timber. the fawn in distress. it was real clear. it sounded very real. i was trying it . on couger and bear.i ordered a Foxpro last week last week. i got the one like trapperbill's in camo with remote i cant wait to get it. i dont know much on the buddy system. but it looks like a tuff machine. just look for one that's user friendly. good luck Rick

Thanks for the advice guys. I charged up the Cabelas caller and it would not work. Seems that the power switch was bad. Took the whole works back to Cabelas store and got the Hunting Buddy and remote. The Hunting Buddy works great and is a lot less hassle than the Cabelas. Hope to have a field report for you on it soon.

Post back on how well you like your Hunters Buddy. I tried one about two years ago when I met one of the owners of the company. I have been spending my cash on weapons and children since and have not come up with the $ for an elecronic caller.

Got a chance to try out my Hunters Buddy in the field this weekend. Caller and remote work fantastic! Was trying to call a bear using a JS Doe in Distress tape. Nothing showed, but the ease of operation and sound quality of the unit was fantastic! Had the caller about 70 yards from my position and the remote worked flawlessly every time. The auto-reverse cassette was really a nice feature as I did not have to climb down from my stand and turn the tape every 30 minutes. I could just let it run. This is really a great caller and I would highly recommend it.

I have no idea. I'd never heard of them so I clicked on the post to read. I was scratching my head when the guy said he's surprised he doesn't hear more about them. I now realize this thread is over 20 years old!! :ROFLMAO:
I didn't realize it was that old but that's about how long I have had it. The reason I was asking is it just now needing a battery and I could fine them on the web. Thanks for getting back with me.
