Thanks for the input. If I could get a carbon barrel I would. Still may cut this one down to 22"I don't quite understand building a 26" varmint barrel on a mini action. That is a lot of weight to be supported by a mini action. But to each his own. Before custom actions were used Benchrest shooters would sleeve standard actions to stiffen them.
I've built two on Mini actions 6.5G and 6mm ARC, both factory 20" HB, working fine
Surprisingly Mini Howa stocks are fairly ridged. I open the barrel channels quite a bit, no chance of touching when set on the bags. I built my first with a Boyde Thumbhole but took it off for a fitted factory stock, it felt better hunting.. Skim bedded them. Chassis don't appeal to me, I find an AR awkward.
Triggers need work if your going for precision, spring kit if you like the two stage. I think there is an aftermarket (Timney?) available.
Bottom metal, it sucks, I have a DIP on one with a bobbed mag and will be ordering a BDL style for the second.
Stockys has those stock in blems for 400. Have to call to order or send a email. I will look into the trigger you mentioned. I'm use to my 700's with a triggertech.I’m working on one now in 20 VarTarg. It will have a fluted 24” light varmint contour barrel. I’m going to go with the Stockys carbon fiber vertical grip stock. DIP bottom metal and rifle Basix varmint trigger. I have several howas and prefer the RB trigger over the timney.
Thanks for the heads up! Are they unpainted blems?Stockys has those stock in blems for 400. Have to call to order or send a email. I will look into the trigger you mentioned. I'm use to my 700's with a triggertech.
Correct un painted blemsThanks for the heads up! Are they unpainted blems?
Howa has the mini in a carbon stalker. 4lbs 14oz.Ill be paying attention to this thread. Considering a light weight 6 arc mini build for coyotes!
