I put down some coyotes this weekend. I hunted half the night Saturday, but they were moving slowly, and I only managed 3. Sunday, it was like someone flipped a switch, and they were coming in on almost every stand. I managed to get 15.

Grateful for those who served and for the freedom to spend today doing what I love, thanks to their sacrifices.

I may have shot more than three in one day, but the best single day that I can remember for sure was 3.

Pretty good weekend I would say good job
 
our license year runs from july to july, so far this season, i killed FIVE.

last year i got 10, but then again i am hunting western PA, competing with a lot of seasons and hunters, people spotting fields and farmers bringing in crops. then when thats over we move into winter and sometimes, knee deep snow.

my hunting partner and his other partner really put the hurt on them.

I ended up calling a spot a couple miles from a prison, you could see the lights on the horizon. I shot a double and was out gathering them when a truck on the county road shinned his lights into the field. I had been watching him creep along the road and it was obvious he was looking for me. I was 300-400 yards away from the road, and knew I had to drag them to the road to pick them up. Thought it might be the landowner who I text earlier letting him know I would be out there, so I turned on my headlamp and started making my way towards him dragging 2 coyotes.

I made it to the fence and didn’t recognize the truck, I replied “Kip?” To the person in the dark cab. An unknown voice replied “no, what the hell are you doing?” Out of breath I threw the coyotes over the fence and replied, “killing coyotes for Jeff and Kip, Jeff called me this week that they just killed a calf right by his house.” He replied, “it’s the middle of the night, there is a prison a couple miles from here, you are making people nervous hearing gunshots in the middle of the f@$king night.”

My ears burned with anger from being cussed at, yet thought it best to keep the tone civil. “I’m hunting with thermal, night is the most effective time to kill them, Jeff, David and Kip all know I am hunting this area tonight I let them know before I come out.” “Well we didn’t know.” I thought maybe I can get access to their land, I figured this is obviously the land owner on the other side of the road. “Give me your number and I’ll let you know the next time I am in the area” “no, we have cattle over there watching where you are shooting.” “Well I’m telling you now there is a group of coyotes howling to the south, I’m moving about a half mile next and will be hunting in this area until light.”

The rest I dragged out without any issue
