Homemade Earth Anchors

I made up some earth anchors the other day at work and was wondering what you all think. I think they should work fine until I can get somewhere to buy some. What you think?

I made a t-handle driver out of 1/2" round steel with a slit in the bottom. Works pretty good. Now to buy a trapping permit and some lure and get started this weekend.

I drove one into the ground in my front yard and I can feel it turn horizontal when I pull on it. Is that what you mean by set? I had to wrap the cable around the driver and pull hard as [beeep] to get the dang thing out of the ground. It came up horizontal the whole way and tore the ground up pretty good.

I think they look dang good. Ive been wanting to try some earth anchors but never have.

Ya I had a lot of trouble getting the flat style to set. The wolf fang set everytime this fall.

If you have trouble getting them to set in some soils, just put them in a vise and put 20deg or so bend on those fangs. Looks good!
