I'm down in south Texas last week, calling coyotes and bobcats. In the evening, after calling is done, I went after hogs. I managed to shoot some; some ran off after being hit, some dropped dead in the field and some I cut up and put in the cooler(on ice) and brought home.
I shot one out of four when they ran out of the field, in to the brush. This was after dark and no way am I going in after a wounded hog. A couple days later, I found the hog, stuck in a mesquite bush having never made it out of the field. Darn!
I did have a chance at a huge hog but I stayed out until 2 hours after dark and it never showed. Too tired to shoot a smaller hog and stay up until 10 skinning it, I called it a night.
As for the javelina leg, my wife calls to see how I am doing and informs me our new puppy has chewed the hoof off of a full mount javelina. So, if any of you have a javelina laying around, I need the left front leg, cut off about 4 inches above the hoof. The good news is she said I could stay in Texas an extra few days to get another javelina. That didn't work out as none were around....until this week! My buddy says they're moving around now. Only trouble is I cannot get back down there until after the 22nd of this month.
