HellcatPro or X24 for new father son coyote hunters

Afternoon everyone.... my son (11) and I are looking at getting our first E-caller. I was thinking an HellcatPro but everything I read pushes me towards an X24. Is it really worth the money?

We are new to the coyote hunting world (avid pheasant hunters) and get a little sticker shock looking at them. I was thinking a Hellcat Pro with some of the MFK sounds but don't want to kick myself for not spending 100-150 more?

What would you do?

The cheaper unit won't stop you from calling coyotes. For someone starting out, save your coin till you decide if this is for you. You can always sell you starter to someone else starting and upgrade then. Or look for someone doing just that and save more coin.
Just my opinion.
I started with a couple hand calls .

Both will call coyotes in just the same, it's up to you how much to spend.. fyi if the price of a e-caller gives you sticker shock your in for a big suprise when you pick up the new addiction.. yes you can kill them with minimal equipment but you only want better stuff each time out

This sure seems that case with anything hunting. New full body decoys, new shotgun/rifle...

If you are an Eastern hunter where you'll be hunting woods, fields that are only a 100ac or so in size, etc you'd be fine with the Hell Cat Pro.

If you are a Western hunter where you will be hunting vast areas I'd go with the x24.

With that said, I am an Eastern hunter and I have the x24. However, I don't think I'd feel handicapped if I had the Hell Cat Pro.

With both I'd go the MFK route.

Both will call in coyotes,we run a Lucky Duck Revolt and X24 and like and kill coyotes with both of them.Have never been around the Hellcat. Are MFK sounds on the X24

Like already said any call will call in predators, I myself would go with the Hellcat Pro remote is better, and as stated go with the MFK unit form there website, cost is about $100. more but you get 100 more of their sounds.

Good luck and happy calling.

i'm in Pennsylvania and use the foxpro patriot. it does what i need it to do. holds plenty of sounds too.

i suggest mounting your call on a 3 foot tall tripod. keeps it off the wet ground and sound carries farther.

I hunt out West and have a FP CS-24, Wildlife Tech, Minaska M-1 and the FP Patriot. The Patriot is a pretty nice call, I think it is an earlier version of the FP Prowler. It calls coyotes just fine.

Just starting out I'd really look at an inexpensive call with a remote. After you have some time under your belt you'll know what you need for the country you hunt. Coyotes have far better hearing than many give them credit for. I find loud highly over rated.

If your transitioning from deer to predators, what you can get away with hunting deer won't fly with coyotes. Your stand selection and how you manage yourself on the stand will be far more important than the sound and caller you use.

Good luck, what a plus to spend time in the field with your son

We ended up getting a Hellcat Pro. Time to get some practice and figure out how to setup a sequence.
Good luck out there!!

Ill just add for future people searching, x24 will play high pitch sounds better without as much distortion and will be about 10% louder.

I got to use a hellcat pro recently and I think that might be my next call. Really liked the remote, the sound quality, and the overall size of it for what I do

Foxpro has some pretty good podcast out on YouTube or other actual podcast players.. they will give you several good pointers and normally towards the end of episode they will always give you handful of there favorite calling sequences to run for the time of year.
