This male coyote routinely passed through & near the farm I lived at. A few times after coming back from the river bottom, early am. He would bed down near the farm facing towards the river bottom. Then stand back up & bark & howl. After a few minutes he would head deep back into his 1x2 mile section. Of rolling hills. Laced with patches of timber & timber strips along the fence lines. I don't speak coyote unlike some others who claim to know. What a coyote is conveying with it's vocals.
Regardless, here he is about 70 yards away.
