Government killing via plane

Duhhh

So I recently learned at least one of the areas I hunt is about to have some government gunners start shooting coyotes via plane. I’m not sure how long they’ll stay in the area but I’m not too excited about it, for selfish reasons of course.

Anyone have any experience hunting areas after they come through?

Yup, I hunt some large ranches in Montana that are flown regularly and still mop up.

The cattleman's association actually is the ones that pays for the plane to fly.

Do you really notice much of an impact as far as overall numbers you’re able to kill? I’d imagine they’re taking out a decent amount of coyotes every time they fly.

This happened about 2 miles from my house 2 or 3 years ago. Though they did it from helocopter. I was told they killed 27. I believe it because the coyote numbers have been terrible since. It really affected the nunbets and reproduction hasn't made a dent yet.
There was also a second spot about 5 miles away, same thing. Between these two spots I've only been able to call one coyote in the last two years.

bet ya cant do that here in NW Pennsylvania ;)

Hahaha bet I can't either! There's zero reason to travel east to kill coyotes other than to spend time with friends! I have a buddy of mine that I went through basic and Infantry school with that lives in Ford City, I've thought about going out but it's almost 10 hours and if I go 10 hours west I can be in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa where the coyotes are dumb and plentiful!!!

Kino… In two words…I’m envious! In two more words… That’s awesome!

Honestly I’m envious of just about everyone that can get in the field to call this year! Lol… it’s been a crazy winter here in my part of NY!

Many years ago. Some local land owners hired an ADC man(he killed those coyotes on foot. NOT from a plane). He trapped & poisoned/gassed a pair of sheep killers & their yearlings. I get that.

However aerial gunners never cut any ice with me. The village idiot can shoot from a plane. So their experiences shooting coyotes from a plane. Mean zilch to me.

Thank you, this winter has been rough for a lot of people for sure, crazy weather in lots of places

How big of a ranch/area?

I remember this happening a lot as a kid in southern Idaho. Right behind my house actually. I wasn’t heavy into calling then so I have no clue on what impact it really had.

So this gunning crew is with the USDA and they sought out the landowners. Kinda made me wonder if they’re reaching for more properties/MOAs with the looming govt cuts. Sort of justifying the program. Pure speculation on that last part.
