The first 3 badgers were all took in the same week out in eastern MT. I've been seeing them like crazy this year and figured I'd share a few of the pictures. Hope you guys enjoy!
It was a good year for badgers in south west Idaho too. Between my hunting buddy and I we've got 25 this summer. Depending on when you shoot them they can smell pretty bad. Right during breeding season is when they're the worst. At times I think they can rival a skunk for stink. Just about crosses your eyes. And if you get the stink on you it takes a couple gays to get rid of it. But right now they're not smelling to bad. The peak badger shooting season is about over for here, we're not seeing as many of them now. We are still seeing fresh digs, they must be more nocturnal now or something. It sure is fun shooting them though. One day I got two on the same mound. I think badgers have the nicest looking pelts of any predator/varmint. I'd like to get one in winter fur to have a rug made. Glad your getting a few and having fun.
broper, your badgers must smell really bad if it takes a couple gays to get rid of it, id just rather smell like a badger then have them follow me around!! LOL

They are quite stinky at times, but I've been able to get the stink off all by myself using soap and warm water, never tried a couple of gays. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

These two youngsters weren't in the least bit intimidated when they stepped out into the two track about 10 yards in front of the big red jeep. They stood their ground long enough for me to get out of the jeep and snap a couple of pictures.
Clarence....that is such an awesome pic! My badger count is down bad! I'm usually in the 8-15 range! I only have one so far....but I did fill my archery buck tag...yahoo, meat in the freezer. thanks, regards, Rick...I will add, nice going to JS!!!
Badgers are pretty scarce (and protected) on ranches I hunt. I doubt I've seen more than a half dozen in 60+ years hunting S. Tx. Fur wouldn't be any good anyway but sure fun to watch when I do see one.
